Chelsea’s David Luiz has found himself one of the names on a shortlist of summer transfer targets drawn up by Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino, according to reports.
Spanish newspaper Sport claims that the Catalan boss is keen on conducting an overhaul of the current squad after this campaign, and has highlighted Luiz, along with a number of other stars, as an ideal addition.
Luiz has of course been named in connection with the Spanish champions in the past, but this summer may once and for all mark the end of his time at Stamford Bridge, with Jose Mourinho having virtually assured by way of signing Kurt Zouma, that Luiz’s shot at reclaiming his centre-back berth has gone.
French newspaper Le 10 Sport further pinpoints Luiz, along with Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Daniel Agger and Rafinha, as one of Barca’s primary targets, though it’s unlikely they will be able to spend much this summer given their outlay last season of Neymar.
Luiz alone could cost them as much as £30million, and, providing that Mourinho does consent to a sale, they may wrap up their business if they can land him.
