On-loan Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku believes Kevin de Bruyne is more suited to the Bundesliga and should not have returned to Chelsea this season.
Speaking to Belgian news site rtbf.be, Lukaku covered a number of issues including Belgium's World Cup aspirations, his personal goals and his expectations for Chelsea.
De Bruyne enjoyed a successful season on loan at Werder Bremen last term before he returned to Chelsea in the summer.
He briefly broke into the first-team under Jose Mourinho but just as swiftly fell out of favour. And Mourinho allowed him to leave permanently in the January transfer window, the Belgian international joining Wolfsburg for £17m.
And Lukaku, a teammate of de Bruyne's with the Belgium national team, believes his colleague should have remained in Germany.
"German football is perfect for him [de Bruyne]," Lukaku said. "He should have stayed there instead of returning to Chelsea."
Lukaku, although currently injured, is enjoying his second season-long loan spell away from Stamford Bridge.
The 20-year-old forward has impressed, this time at Everton, after a solid campaign with West Bromwich Albion last term.
