Manchester United’s hopes of signing combative midfielder Arturo Vidal this summer have been boosted by the news that he could be dropped for Juventus’s next match against Chievo.
Antonio Conte was left infuriated after his side threw away a two-goal lead against Hellas Verona last weekend, leading Quotidiano Sportivo to speculate that the Juventus boss could drop both Vidal and striker Fernando Llorente for the Old Lady’s next fixture on Sunday.
It’s reported that Claudio Marchisio and Dani Osvaldo are lined up to replace the duo in the starting XI.
Vidal, 26, is widely considered one of the best central midfielders in world football - and Manchester United boss David Moyes is believed to be keen to bring him to Old Trafford this summer.
However, reports on Tuesday revealed that the Chile international has agreed a new £200,000-a-week contract at the Juventus Stadium, which appeared to end United’s hopes of signing the player.
Nevertheless, a potential rift between Vidal and Conte could change everything.
