MLS side Toronto FC have refused to confirm that a deal is in place to sign Brazilian international goalkeeper Julio Cesar from Queens Park Rangers.
The QPR keeper had originally been closer to the transfer, but Toronto have become coy regarding any potential deal.
Speculation began when Brazil national team coach Luiz Felipe Scolari stated that Cesar was signing for Toronto prior to naming his squad for the upcoming game with South Africa.
"Julio Cesar has been called, but he has to present himself to his new club Toronto, the paperwork must be done soon," Scolari told reporters.
But despite Scolari's words, Toronto head coach Ryan Nelson has refused to confirm that a deal is in place for the Brazilian international.
"At the moment, I can' really comment because nothing has been finalised. I haven't spoken to Julio Cesar for a couple of days, so I don;t know about what Scolari said," the former Blackburn Rovers defender said.
Nelson believes that the potential signing of Cesar would be fantastic coverage for the MLS, and the Toronto fans.
"It is something that would be really nice for the Toronto fans and the community to have a player of his skill, expertise and experience.
"I might have to give Scolari a call to see if it has happened," he joked.
