Yesterday saw even more upheaval at the Cleveland Browns. The Browns CEO and GM were fired yesterday in what seems to be an annual event in Ohio.
Well one player has had enough of it. According to NFL Network's Mike Silver, quarterback Brandon Weeden can't stand the instability at the organization and wants to get out of there for good.
“Given the turmoil with the coaching staff and lack of support from the most recent front office, he’s looking a fresh start, a clean slate, a place where he can show he has the talent to be a productive player in this league,” Silver said.
Since Weeden was picked in the first round of the 2012 draft by the Browns, the team has gone through three head coaches, three offensive coordinators and three general managers.
The 30 year old has not enjoyed a good start to his NFL career by any stretch of the imagination. And things did not get any better in 2013.
Weeden threw for a measly 1,731 yards, for 9 touchdowns, 9 interceptions and had 6 fumbles last season as he was removed as the starter.
Whether a team will want to give up anything for such an unproven player like Weeden remains to be seen, but if he is cut then a spot as a back up seems more likely.
The were set to draft a quarterback to replace Weeden anyway, with all signs pointing to Johnny Manziel being their new man under center. For the sake of the fans, i hope Manziel - or whoever comes in - can perform better than the man he is replacing.
