Manchester City are in danger of missing out on Porto star Fernando after his agent confirmed that the Citizens were 'not alone' in the race for his signature.
The Express also report that they could miss out on his Porto team-mate, defender Equalim Mangala as well.
Fernando and Mangala have attracted interest from all over Europe in recent months thanks to their performances for Porto, and should be on the move in the summer.
Manchester City tried to sign the pair on the last day of the January transfer window but couldn't get the deal over the line.
They are likely to attempt to land both players in the summer - but it now appears unlikely that they'll have it all their own way.
Fernando's agent confirmed that his agent should be on his way to the Premier League in the summer - although not necessarily to Manchester City.
"God willing, Fernando will play in the Premier League," Antonio Araujo told RTP.
"Manchester City were a strong candidate, but were not alone in the race."
Chelsea may opt against entering the race for Mangala having secured the services of Kurt Zouma in the January transfer window.
The Blues may try and lure Fernando to Stamford Bridge - although once again they signed Nemanja Matic in the winter window.
The Express claim that Juventus and Monaco are both interested in the 26-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer.
