Dwight Howard impostor fools unsuspecting fan

To meet our sporting heroes is a dream that most people share. For few of us it very rarely happens, but usually we might bump into one or two names during encounters that you instantly want to tell your friends about.

After meeting NBA center Dwight Howard a few days ago, one American girl was understandably keen to proudly let people know. Via the medium of Instagram, she said: "My sisters and I with NBA Superstar Dwight Howard!!! We really enjoyed our encounter with him despite not knowing his name until looking him up as he said to, LOL!

"He was really nice, super cool, HUMBLE, and had us laughing too! 😁 #DwightHoward #AlexisAlleyAlbany 😊❤️"

Now this all might seems harmless enough, unfortunately for her, though, it turns out the man she met and had photographs taken with was not Howard at all - just a sad impostor who seemed to pretend that he was indeed the Houston Rockets big man.

How do we know this? Well, apart from just having a quick look at the photos, Howard used his own Instagram account to politely point out the error.

"that's not me sweetie dude lied to y'all I just played a game," said the 28-year-old former number-one pick.

So, while the girl did not actually meet Howard after all, she can claim to have received an Instagram comment from him  - so every cloud, I suppose.

Although you do still have to wonder why this guy was pretending to be Howard in the first place.

The Rockets, who currently sit fifth in the Western Conference with a record of 35-17, are currently on a six-game win streak that they will look to extend against the Washington Wizard on Wednesday night.

Howard, who joined Kevin McHale's crew during the summer after calling time on his spell with the Los Angeles Lakers after just one season, will also be represent the city in New Orleans this weekend as he makes his ninth All-Star appearance.
