NBA mascot unveiled after facial reconstruction surgery

The New Orleans Pelicans' mascot Pierre - who is, of course, a pelican - has been unveiled after undergoing 'facial reconstruction surgery'.

Pierre was previously terrifying. How he was allowed to get away with being the team's mascot for so long is anyone's guess.

He resembled a clown and wouldn't have looked out of place in a low-budget horror movie.

But after suffering a broken beak, it was decided that Pierre would undergo a makeover.

And what a transformation!

Pierre still looks a little odd, admittedly, but his clown-like features have now disappeared.

He previously had a face that only a mother could love, but he now looks much friendlier.

To all the surgeons who worked tirelessly on getting poor old Pierre back to full fitness: it was well worth the effort.
