Man United to offer ageing star two-year deal - reports

Published Add your comment

Italian website TuttoSport is claiming that Manchester United are considering offering Patrice Evra a new two-year deal in order to ward off interest from the likes of Monaco and Inter Milan.

The source claims that David Moyes and his team are contemplating handing their French left-back a new deal, despite reports that infer they want to bring in a new fullback.

If true, the news is likely to shock many United fans who were expecting to see Evra departing the club at the end of this season along with a host of other stars.

Inter Milan are said to be favourites for his signature, especially now that they have secured teammate Nemanja Vidic, whilst the likes of Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain have been credited as having readied large financial packages to tempt the 32-year-old away.

The left-back has been far from his best form so far this campaign, but the decision to offer Evra a new deal may have been borne out of Moyes’ desire to ensure his side retains a healthy number of senior figures.

The Red Devils are all set to spend big this summer in order to revamp their squad, but will need tried and tested heads in order to allow the new players to settle in.
