Arsene Wenger brought Mesut Ozil to Arsenal in a surprise last-minute transfer last summer, and it looks like he could pull off another surprising move during the next close season.
Mario Balotelli, who is currently playing his football for AC Milan, might be urged to make the switch from Italy to England this summer, according to The Guardian.
Wenger has reportedly met with Balotelli's agent already with a view to securing the striker on a shock summer switch. The move is thought to be backed by Arsenal's new kit sponsor and Balotelli's current sponsor - Puma. The sports brand could possibly contribute to the transfer of the Italian international after signing a £150m kit deal which begins next season.
Balotelli has had some tough times in England. His eventful spell at Manchester City was largely shadowed by criticism and injury. The Italian seems to be much more satisfied in Milan, where he played before coming to England before returning last January.
Furthermore, Arsenal have other big name transfer targets to worry about this summer. Most notable of the lot is youngster Julian Draxler, whom the north London side failed to acquire during the January transfer window.
The German is said to be valued around £37 million, so it is unlikely that Arsenal will splurge on both Draxler and Balotelli.
