Inter Milan president Erick Thohir plans to announce the signing of Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic during his next visit to Italy, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
Thohir is expected to be in Italy between February 21 and 27, meaning that an announcement should be made before the end of the month.
While clubs from Spain, Russia and Turkey remain interested in the 32-year-old centre-back, Inter are firm favourites to secure the player's signature.
Indeed, if reports are to be believed, Vidic is close to accepting a three-year contract with a £2.1m starting salary.
The former Serbia international announced his decision to quit Old Trafford after eight years at the club last week.
However, United boss David Moyes has pledged to stick with Vidic as his captain and first-choice centre-back until he leaves the club at the end of the season.
Vidic, meanwhile, reportedly met with Inter's sporting director Piero Ausilo in London on Tuesday.
The committed central defender requested a dossier on all Serie A-based players, as well as teams and other relevant information.
