Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has confirmed that money will be available to spend in the Summer transfer window.
The reigning Premier League champions, who broke their transfer record in January by signing Juan Mata for £37.1 million from Chelsea, will likely be adding to the squad in the summer following Woodward's announcement.
Woodward said: "Historically, we've had roughly three sales and three purchases each year, and it's possible we'll do more than that. It's a dynamic situation.
"We're not in the position we want to be in and we're working hard to change that. We will invest in our squad as needed to make sure we're competing at the highest level.
"Our focus is on building a competitive squad to challenge for trophies. We have the ability to buy players... to make sure we are competing at the top level."
Club captain Nemanja Vidic will be the first to leave after announcing last week that he will be departing Old Trafford at the end of the season.
And there are a host of other players who are rumoured to also be one the verge of exits at the end of the season, including Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra who are out of contract in the summer and Brazilian midfielder Anderson who is currently on loan to Italian side Fiorentina.
David Moyes' first port of call will undoubtedly be to strengthen his side with a view for competing for major honours next season, but he'll have to be ensure he buys carefully. Fans will surely not tolerate another flop.
