With Valentine's day upon us, it seemed suiting to position the spotlight over the other halves of the players we've come to enjoy on a weekly basis.
With most of them obviously being hitched, we take a look at those who have the women who don't need a footballing husband to justify their own fame.
Let's get the most obvious one out of the way, the first name that would pop into anyone's mind when thinking about WAGs - Victoria Beckham.
Formerly known as Victoria Adams, her claim to fame is being part of the world-wide sensation that was the Spice Girls. A British, all-girl pop group that broke through in the mid-to-early 90s, they were in the hearts of many nations as their songs grew from album fillers to well known anthems.
Being known as 'Posh Spice', Victoria's image was that of a well-raised and sophisticated young lady.. funny how she came to fulfil that destiny.
With the Spice Girls now broken up for a number of years, with only one reunion since, she has been busy releasing her own line of clothing and accessories while living in the USA, supporting her husband David in his recent founding of new MLS club in Miami.
Next on the list is the well-known singer, song-writer, record producer and much more: Shakira.
The Colombian sweetheart has been in a committed relationship with no other than Barcelona center-back Gerard Piqué for roughly four years and had a child with him in 2013. Before the days of Pique she was already renowned for her musical talent, breaking through and gaining prominence in the mid-to-late 90s world-wide.
Since then she has gone on to release multiple albums with great success - even model, choreograph, produce, create a foundation and many more things with no intentions to slow down.
Though not technically a current WAG - I felt this list needed the mention of a certain young lady that goes by the name of Cheryl Cole.
Former wife of Chelsea left-back Ashley, Cheryl Tweedy was already in her own spot of fame with all-girl British pop group Girls Aloud. The group was the result of a reality/talent television show Popstars in 2002, rising in the charts through the same year and having an on and off career for a number of years.
Releasing multiple albums and having a mixture of success, she went solo during the stage of being with Cole discovering more success, although later in 2010 she filed for divorce against him after he was caught out cheating on her.
Since then she has filled her time with being a judge on popular television series the X-Factor and is currently recording her next solo album.
Now for a woman who isn't shy to be seen with the footballers of Britain: Danielle O'Hara.
Formerly known as Danielle Lloyd, she made her own way into fame purely by her looks - specifically winning Miss England in 2004 and Miss Great Britain in 2006. The Scouse beauty made it big when she was having an alleged affair with former England international Teddy Sheringham, one of the Miss Great Britain judges, at the time of her pageant.
Sheringham not being the only footballer she was able to get intimate with, she also dated former striker Marcus Bent, current Toronto FC striker Jermaine Defoe and is now happily married with kids to Wolverhampton's Jamie O'Hara.
Since her days as Miss England and appearing on Celebrity Big Brother - she has gone on to do the odd thing here and there in the form of Come Dine with Me, Celebrity Total Wipeout, Cribs and other minor appearances.
Finally, I thought I couldn't finish the list without a bit of controversy - although the specific WAG is Frankie Sandford, it's who she is tied to that's the more infamous part of the story.
Sandford is an accomplished and talented singer in British pop group The Saturdays, with multiple chart hits and many successful singles.
Before that she was in a spin-off group of "S-Club 7" that went by the name of S-Club Juniors, where her singing obviously must have caught the eye of some very intrigued producers as her career only bloomed from there.
Now for the controversy - she is currently in a long-term relationship with former Chelsea left-back Wayne Bridge, the very same man who was in a relationship and bore a child with French model Vanessa Perroncel. During his time playing for Chelsea and England, it turned out Bridge's partner was sleeping with his defensive partner on the pitch John Terry.
