Philipp Lahm warns Toni Kroos against Bayern Munich exit

Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm has warned Toni Kroos against leaving Bayern Munich - amidst reported interest from Manchester United.

Kroos is reportedly considering his future with the German giants.

Manchester United are said to be interested in securing his services as part of a major summer spending spree aimed at kick-starting the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era after a disappointing season under new boss David Moyes to date.

However, Lahm has warned Kroos off a move to Old Trafford or indeed anywhere else, insisting that playing for any team other than Bayern is a step down.

"It is normal that one explores their position and negotiate," the defender told reporters.

“But if you currently play for Bayern there are few alternatives, if any. It is, in my eyes, an absolute privilege to play here because the team simply has the mentality to win.

"Many players want to come to Bavaria. So you have to think carefully about whether you leave a club like this at the moment.”

Manchester United currently sit in 7th place in the Premier League, and are 11 points adrift of Liverpool who occupy the fourth and final Champions League qualification spot.

Reports suggest the Red Devils will have somewhere in the region of £200 million to spend in order to revamp their squad.

Moyes has already spent £27.5 million on signing Marouane Fellaini from former club Everton, as well as shattering Manchester United's transfer record to sign Juan Mata last month.
