When Juan Mata joined Manchester United from Chelsea nearly a month ago, many believed the Spaniard would have the same impact on David Moyes' strugglers as Mesut Ozil did for Arsenal.
Despite some decent performances from Mata - he has three assists in four games and hasn't had the impact many at United fans would have hoped for. Moyes' side have won only one of those four Premier League games, and Wednesday's 0-0 draw at Arsenal means the champions are now 11 points off the top four.
Wayne Rooney, however, is adamant United have signed an exceptional player, and is looking forward to working with him and forward Robin van Persie.
He believes the player just needs time to settle: "It's exciting," he told the Manchester Evening News. "Juan has come in and it's another world-class player to have in the squad.
"It'll take time - it can always take a little bit of time for every player to gel and to bond but we really hope we can all start scoring goals and help the team be successful."
The players will have a while to gel before their best game. United don't have a match until the 22 February. Moyes has taken this break as an opportunity for Mata and his teammates to spend some quality time together on a warm-weather training trip to Dubai.
And Rooney is looking forward to the trip. “It’s nice to spend time together,” he told ManUtd.com. “When you’re at home you go to training then you go home and see your families, but with trips like this you’re training then spending time with the lads."
