Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is backing Chelsea’s John Terry to earn an England recall for this summer’s World Cup.

Terry is retired from international duty, although there has been an indication he would be willing to return, and Rodgers has praised the centre-back as ‘tactically brilliant’.

Franco Baldini, the man deemed responsible for Tottenham’s summer transfer splurge, could be set to lose his job at White Hart Lane.

The Italian director of football has clashed with chairman Daniel Levy and manager Tim Sherwood, and is position is under increasing threat.
