Alvaro Negredo and co. may be banging in the goals up front, but there is one weakness still to be resolved in Manchester City's team: their defensive frailties.
And in my eyes it has been one man in particular, Martin Demichelis. Manchester City's summer signing from Atletico Madrid has failed in my opinion to take his Premier League opportunity by storm.
Now in writing this, I am not trying to slag him off in any way; of course, he must have some talent to ply his trade at Manchester City. Although it obviously isn't enough to be at such a big club.
Demichelis joined Manchester City in the summer, for just £3m. Clearly Pellegrini saw something in him at the time, but for now at least this seems to have disappeared from his game.
The statistics aren't particularly bad for Demichelis, but it seems to be his unpredictability whilst on the pitch rather than looking at what Manchester City have done as a team.
Demichelis has been off form, and very jittery during his time in England. Numerous times he has given the ball away to opposition, and during attacks by the Citizens his passing has been indefinitely wasteful.
His worst performance definitely came against Chelsea, when he was deployed in midfield by Pellegrini. But again this wasn't the right decision.
Demichelis is a spanner in Manchester City's works, and unfortunately for them he could be the obstacle to derail their title winning train which gets closer and closer to its destination each week.
It's not that I don't like Demichelis, it's the fact that I would have preferred to sign a younger, more reliable defender whose consistency no doubt will be top class.
Personally I'd much rather name Kompany, along with one of Manchester City's other centre-backs such as Joleon Lescott or Matija Nastasic who can be relied upon.
If Demichelis can pull his socks up and get his game together my opinion may quickly change, but for now I have no reason to reconsider my point.
Feel free to disagree with me - but it will come to a day when the Citizens can no longer put trust in Demichelis.
