Neymar has been sidelined for four weeks due to the ankle injury he picked up against Getafe last month, and has been in a race to be fit to face Manchester City in the Champions League.
However, Neymar would join the rest of the squad in the Camp Nou for their league game against Rayo Vallecano having been deemed fit enough to be included. Although he would not make the starting XI, hopes were high that the Brazilian sensation would make his return
In the 62nd minute, Neymar would sub-in for Pedro. With the score already 5-0 and Barcelona in full throttle, the Brazilian looked set to mark his return with a goal, and it couldn't have come in any better way.
After receiving a pass from the midfield, Neymar rode several challenges while staying on his feet (which was a superb answer to all his criticism for diving) before rocketing the ball from about 25-yards out, which dipped into the top corner.
Barcelona Coach Gerardo "Tata" Martino had spoke about Neymar's recovery, and his fight for a spot in the starting XI.
"Neymar has been training fine, feels okay and has looked strong," said Martino.
"He is now competing with the rest for a place. I don't like to talk about it as a test for him"
Whether Neymar starts against City, you can rest assured Barcelona are heading there with a wealth of attacking options. And, if Neymar can keep this form, he is surely to light up the world in Brazil this summer.
