Manchester United have been linked with Ezequiel Garay for what seems like an age and, according to the Wikipedia page of the Benfica defender, the Premier League champions have completed his capture.
The interest in Garay dates back to the illustrious tenure of Sir Alex Ferguson, with the player claiming a move would have been completed last summer had the Scot not decided to call time on his career.
Despite this assertion that the appointment of David Moyes scuppered a transfer to Old Trafford, speculation persists about Manchester United interest in the Argentina international, and will surely continue towards the next transfer window.
A Manchester United prankster has further fuelled the flame by changing Garay’s Wikipedia page to state that he is currently a player for the Red Devils rather than Benfica, although we can expect the norm to be restored at some point.
Moyes could still press forward with a move for Garay given that Nemanja Vidic will leave at the end of the season, but there is expected to be competition from Zenit for the £25 million-rated centre-back.
