Oliver Giroud took to social networking website Twitter after allegations arose that he had an affair with model Celia Kay, reports The Telegraph.
The Arsenal striker posted the following messages yesterday on the social media site:
"I apologise to my wife, family and friends and my manager, team-mates and Arsenal fans.
"I now have to fight for my family and for my club and obtain their forgiveness. Nothing else matters at the moment."
The model supposedly visited his hotel room hours before a Premier League match against Crystal Palace in February 2.
The story came to light last week but Giroud denied the rumours and threatened legal action against the reporters.
However, after The Sun followed up the story by posting pictures of Giroud in his underwear, the Frenchman has now issued his apology to his family, team-mates and manager following the incident.
Giroud started on the substitutes' bench for Arsenal's FA Cup encounter against Liverpool yesterday but did come on for the last two minutes.
