Champions League: First-leg predictions (9)

Published 33 Comments

Zenit v Borussia Dortmund

Lastly, we come to next Tuesday's clash at Petrovsky Stadium. Zenit currently sit top of the Russian Premier League, level on points with Leonid Kuchuk's Lokomotiv Moscow on 40 points.

For Dortmund, the 2013/14 season has been largely miserable. As well as sitting third and a whopping 17 points behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, the club are also set to lose talismanic striker Robert Lewandowski to Pep Guardiola's side during the summer.

This will be a tough occasion for Jurgen Klopp's men, but one I expect them to come through successfully - and narrowly - to set up a tense second leg at Signal Iduna Park.

PREDICTION - ZENIT 1-2 BORUSSIA DORTMUND
