Few competitors in the history of sport have cemented quite as legendary a status as NBA icon Michael Jordan.

The former Chicago Bulls stalwart - who won six NBA titles across two different spells with the franchise - is the best player ever to have picked up a basketball and is deservedly revered as such.

Today (February 17), the former North Carolina Tar Heel turns 51 and ESPN SportsCenter have paid homage to his 'his airness' by featuring video footage of the very best 23 highlights (although there could have been many more) of his illustrious career.

Number one, which can be seen above, is his famous last-gasp winner that clinched the title for Bulls in game six of the 1998 finals against the Utah Jazz.

Also on the list is Jordan's infamous 'flu game', where he was struggling with illness and fever but still had enough to put 38 points on the same opponents on game five of the 1997 finals and his free-throw line slam that won Jordan the 1988 slam dunk contest.
