Manchester United are interested in Juventus centre back Martin Cacares, according to the Daily Express.

The 26-year-old is being looked at as a possible replacement for the departing Nemanja Vidic.

The defender could move for as little as £8m after falling out of favour with Juve boss Antonio Conte in recent months.

There is the possibility that Nani could be involved in the deal, after Juventus have shown an interest in the winger, and with United desperate to offload some of the current team.

The defender can play at centre back and at full back, making him a versatile prospect that could appeal to United boss David Moyes as a cut-price summer option.

United have been searching for a replacement for Vidic and with the future of Rio Ferdinand still undecided Cacares could be the key man in a dramatically different line up for next season.

Phil Jagielka, Mat Hummels, Joao Miranda and Eliaquim Mangala have all been linked with a possible move into United's back line, with this summer holding the key to wholesale changes at Old Trafford.
