Skip Bayless is at it again.
And this time it is the NBA All-star participants who felt the wrath of the controversial broadcaster.
Speaking on The First Take podcast, Bayless was far from impressed with what he saw during the East-West match up last night in New Orleans:
"It became an unwatchable joke to me...nobody played any defence until, I don't know, maybe the last two minutes."
Grading the overall contest a C-, Bayless was apathetic towards the game after a lack of defence.
Skip since when has defense made an appearance at any All-Star game?
The game ended in a record-setting 163-155 win for the East, but Bayless was clearly left unimpressed with what he saw, criticising everyone involved apart from LeBron James:
"This year the NFL players played 10 times harder that the NBA players with one exception...LeBron James played hard in this game," he told listeners.
Bayless argued that he couldn't watch most of the contest and wasn't pulling any punches when it came to grading the contest:
"I was actually mesmerised by how pathetic it was."
Bayless attempted to justify his comments by comparing this year's game to those of yesteryear - arguing players in All-Star games past played with much more dedication, and an emphasis on defense.
But the All-Star game is an extravaganza of basketball, and has never rated highly as a technical, strategic spectacle.
While last night's game was certainly toward the more extreme end of the spectrum, it is hardly the be-all-and-end-all of the season, and players were rightly avoiding unnecessary contact with much of the season still to go.
The game saw a number of records fall, with Blake Griffin shooting nineteen from the field and Kyrie Irving winning MVP honors.
What do you think? Was the All-Star game a wash out?
