LeBron James wants an extended All-Star break, according to the new NBA commissioner Adam Silver.

As reported by ESPN, Silver admitted that James is just one of the stars to have asked him personally for a longer break.

It appears that James wants more of a rest from the regular season when he meets up with the All-Star team.

Speaking to reporters, Silver said: "LeBron and I have had a relationship for a long time. We're so far in season [that] the relationship has mainly been one of texting and e-mailing.

"I spoke to him for a little bit [Sunday] and he had a few things to say in the locker room when I was in talking to the players. I think it's a forum."

The season resumes for the likes of James and Co. on Tuesday with the Miami Heat set to take on the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center.

The Heat will be desperate to continue from where they left off having beaten the Golden State
Warriors before the All-Star weekend.

If the Heat can beat the Mavericks on Tuesday, then they will secure their sixth victory in seven games.

However, defeating the Mavericks will prove no easy task for the Heat as their counterparts are looking for their seventh win in eight games.
