Manchester United's long-term transfer target Ezequiel Garay is available this summer for a fee of €20m thanks to a release clause in his Benfica contract, according to Portuguese publication O Joga.
Garay has been persistently linked with a move to a whole host of top European sides throughout the past two seasons thanks to a string of accomplished performances for Benfica, including United, Benfica and Galatasaray.
The 27-year-old has surprisingly stayed in Portugal for three seasons despite the exposure of consistent Champions League football, but O Joga believe that Zenit are primed to change that this summer.
Zenit have delved into the Portuguese market before and are ready to activate Garay's €20m release clause at the end of the season.
United have a long-term interest in the Argentine international but now face a race against time to add a quality defensive reinforcement this summer, particularly with the centre-back a certainty to take part in this summer's World Cup.
Red Devils boss David Moyes is a certainty to be in the transfer market for defensive reinforcements when the current campaign concludes, with United captain Nemanja Vidic confirmed to be leaving Old Trafford at the end of this season.
