Manchester United will almost certainly make a definitive move for long-term target William Carvalho this summer, having scouted him 12 times already this season, according to the Guardian.

The paper claims that David Moyes’ persistence in tracking the Sporting Lisbon starlet is indicative of an offer which is set to come in the summer, with the Scot keen to revamp his squad having been promised strong financial backing.

According to the report United have been present to watch Carvalho during 12 of his 17 appearances for Sporting this year, with each scouting mission contributing towards a dossier of information with which Moyes will refer to when deciding whether or not to bring the youngster to Old Trafford.

Clearly thus far the Red Devils boss must have been impressed with what he’s seen as representatives were in Portugal to watch Carvalho during his side’s 2-1 win over Gil Vicente as recently as last Sunday.

With a buyout clause of €45million the 21-year-old will not come cheap, but one would assume that United will have already taken that into consideration whilst they continue to watch him play.
