LeBron James talks future with Miami Heat

Miami Heat fans will be breathing a huge sigh of relief; it doesn’t look like LeBron James has any plans to leave this year.

According to the Globe and Mail, the current NBA MVP has admitted that he will assess his options in the summer, but has no immediate plans to leave the Heat.

Recent speculation has suggested James could depart in favour of either a return to former franchise the Cleveland Cavaliers or a move which would see him join one of the other big teams in the league.

However after being asked in an interview whether he can envisage a situation wherein he’s playing for somebody else as of next season, James instantly replied: “At this point, I can’t.

“At this point, I can’t. We don’t know what can happen from now to July, so what I’ve been able to do this whole season to this point is just worry about what’s at hand and that’s winning another championship. And hopefully at the end of this year I can put myself in a position where I can hold that Larry O’Brien Trophy up once again and then I will assess what I have to do with my future after that.”

Cue rejoicing from Heat fans all over the world. Whilst the Miami giants are still in contention to achieve a glorious three-peat by winning this year’s championship, there’s plenty who believe the likes of Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade and James could be separated come the end of the season.

For James at least, it looks as though the pesky trade rumours will be put on hold for the foreseeable future.
