Manchester United tried and failed to sign Lucas..

Paris Saint-Germain fans unhappy with Lucas

Published 6 Comments

Manchester United may have dodged a bullet by failing to land Brazilian Lucas Moura during the summer of transfer window of 2012, with the majority of Paris Saint-Germain supporters believing their club wasted money on the acquisition of the young midfielder.

The 21-year-old was one of the most coveted players of that transfer period having impressed immensely during three seasons in the Sao Paulo first-team, and was able to realise his dream of a move to Europe by joining PSG.

Manchester United had been credited with serious interest in Lucas as Sir Alex Ferguson strived to bring reinforcements to Old Trafford, but PSG were able to complete his capture ahead of the Red Devils in a deal worth around €42 million.

Lucas, though, has done little to suggest himself worthy of such a sizeable investment during his time in Paris, with the Brazil international yet to establish himself as a guaranteed starter at the Parc des Princes.

He has made 23 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG this season, 12 of which have been from the bench, and the club’s supporters have overwhelmingly voted to express the feeling that the club spent far too much to buy the player.

In a poll conducted by French newspaper L’Equipe, 82 percent of fans believe €42 million was a figure over the odds for the young talent.
