Jayru Campbell was formally charged last week for the bodyslam of a security guard at his Cass Tech high school last month, but it seems his supporters have another idea.
A petition has been posted online on the website change.org, and so far there are just under 4,000 signatures demanding that adult charges be dropped against the 17-year-old promising quarterback.
He was officially charged last week with aggravated assault, and the intent to do great bodily harm against the 23-year-old guard that he injured.
Campbell's bodyslam went viral across the world, and it has left his MSU 2015 commit status in doubt ever since.
At least for Jayru's sake, he hasn't been found guilty yet and he's got plenty of people fighting in his corner.
Below you can read a shortened version of the online petition, which can be found if you click here.
