Ex-Arsenal star reveals why Ozil is struggling

Published 1 Comments

Ex-Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehman believes Mesut Ozil is struggling from a lack of a winter break, reports talkSPORT

The German international has struggled for form in recent weeks and has been criticised for his fairly subdued performances and Lehman believes he's suffering from fatigue.

When Ozil was plying his trade at Real Madrid, he was handed a break over the Christmas period, however he's been a main stay in the Gunners' side all season long - without a festive break.

And, the ex-Arsenal goalkeeper believes a lack of a winter break is affecting Ozil.

Speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show, Lehman said: “When you move over from Spain you don’t know how it’s going to affect your body when you play through the winter.

“He’s suffering and is showing some fatigue. I understand he had a fever last week.”

Arsenal fans will be hoping Ozil can provide the spark for the Gunners as they play host to German giants Bayern Munich at the Emirates tonight.

The German playmaker is expected to play an integral part in Arsene Wenger's side tonight and Arsenal will be desperate to gain a first leg lead over their opponents as they look to reach the quarter-finals of Europe's elite competition.
