Tottenham Hotspur's club-record signing Erik Lamela has been identified by Inter Milan as their primary transfer target in what promises to be a summer of upheaval at the San Siro, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Lamela has struggled to make his mark since arriving at White Hart Lane from Roma last summer, for a fee of £30m that was the ceiling point of a close season of heavy recruitment in north London.
The 21-year-old has made just nine Premier League appearances and is sidelined until mid-March following a succession of thigh and back injuries, but that has not stopped Inter registering their interest.
Corriere dello Sport has today shared that Inter are in regular contact with Lamela's agent as they mull over a summer offer for the Argentine international, who was a star in Serie A during his spell with Roma.
Inter are believed to favour a permanent deal rather than any kind of loan agreement, but are highly unlikely to consider matching the £30m Spurs shelled out for the winger last summer.
Spurs will also have their transfer policy shaped by a decision over Tim Sherwood's long-term future at the Lane, as a whole host of experienced European managers including Italy boss Cesare Prandelli continue to be linked with the post.
