Inter Milan are ready to offer a new three-year contract to Fredy Guarin, in a bid to ward off interest from Manchester United in the midfielder, reports talkSPORT.
The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the San Siro, having attracted admiring glances from the Premier League during the January transfer window.
Red Devils boss David Moyes was keen to bring the Colombian international to Old Trafford last month, and was even willing to part with striker Javier Hernandez as part of the deal.
However, despite Guarin's apparent interest in moving to England, Manchester United could miss out on the midfielder if he is convinced to pen an extension with the Serie 'A' giants, with a significant pay-rise in the offing to sweeten any potential deal.
His current contract in Italy runs until 2016, and it's understood that the player will wait until the summer before assessing his transfer options, giving Moyes some hope to cling onto, in his ongoing pursuit of creative reinforcements at the end of the season.
