Last season, Michael Laudrup was being hailed as a footballing genius, after winning the League Cup with Swansea, their first major trophy win.
But just under a year later, he was without a job, after checking through his emails.
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins, Laudrup says, sacked him over email.
He revealed to reporters: "At the meeting we ended up saying we have to stay together and we shook hands," said Laudrup. "[Jenkins] said 'thank you very much because you want to help the club'.
"Later that morning I received a mail that said 'due to a breach of your contract, with immediate effect, it's terminated'.
"I called the club and said 'what's going on'? I asked what 'breach' meant, but he couldn't explain it. While I was on the phone, my wife said she saw the story on the internet.
"I then spoke to someone from the club, who later brought me my things. I said 'could I speak to the staff and players?' He called me back and said 'the chairman thinks that's a bad idea'. I still have not said goodbye to anyone."
The Dane has not been given the opportunity to say goodbye to the players who won him the cup, something which angers him. "(Someone from the club) called me back and said 'the chairman thinks that's a bad idea'. I still have not said goodbye to anyone."
Such treatment seems to be acceptable nowadays, with Paul Ince receiving his marching orders from Blackpool owner, Karl Oyston, earlier in the year, via text.
It is hard to imagine how a conversation such as that would go. Would there be an emoticon used at any point, to make it seem a little less formal? Would the owner send a 'x' as a way of thanks? Or maybe just send the text, then bar the number so as to avoid any confrontation?
The Swans have since handed first team player, Garry Monk the reins, for his first managerial job, and he has begun on the right foot, after beating bitter rivals Cardiff City 3-0 in his first game in charge.
