Chelsea and Manchester City look set to miss out on Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi, as he will today pen a new deal with the club, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Frenchman had delayed signing a new contract due to an ongoing court battle, but has now virtually cemented his future at the Parc des Princes.
He has made 37 appearances for PSG this season under Laurent Blanc, and is considered a major part of their title aspirations.
Both Premier League teams were looking at the possibility of getting the Frenchman on a free transfer as his contract was set to run up this summer. That now looks a practical impossibility if reports are to be believed.
Matuidi was included in the squad that defeated Bayer Leverkusen in last night's Champions League clash, scoring the first goal of the night after three minutes. He signed for PSG in 2011 from St Etienne but the new contract will see him stay in Paris until 2018.
