Luis Muriel is being lined up by Brendan Rodgers as a possible replacement for Luis Suarez, just in case the Uruguayan departs Liverpool in the summer, according to the Daily Express.

The 22-year-old striker has struggled to match the form of last season where he scored 11 goals in 22 appearances for Udinese.

The Colombian international has only found the back of the net four times in 15 games, but has struggled with injury this season.

Suarez has not been linked with a move away from Anfield yet this season, but was part of a transfer request from Arsenal for over £50 million.

After signing a new deal, with a clause that means any potential buyers would have to spend £100 million on the Uruguayan, the chances of Suarez leaving are slim.

Nevertheless, Rodgers is making sure that Liverpool are prepared for the worst and their star striker departs.

Depending on the success of Suarez at the World Cup in June, he could become a sizeable asset.
