Barcelona steal 'next Modric' from Premier League rivals

Barcelona look to have beaten a host of Premier League clubs to the signature of Dynamo Zagreb youngster Alen Halilovic.

The young Croatian has emerged as one of the most promising youngsters in Europe - and has been targeted by various clubs before.

Last season Halilovic became the youngest ever player to represent the Croatian national team and the youngest goalscorer in the Croatian top-flight.

Tottenham, Manchester United and Arsenal have all been linked with the 17-year-old in the past.

Spurs appeared keen on the youngster - who has been labelled as the "next Luka Modric" - and tried unsuccessfully to lure him to White Hart Lane him last summer.

However Barcelona look to be leading the race for his services despite already reportedly having one bid turned down earlier this month.

Croatian newspaper Jutarnji List report that Barcelona will pay a fee of £5 million up front, with more to pay depending on the young midfielder's development.

The paper adds that Halilovic will complete his move to the Nou Camp this summer.
