The daughter of Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban has today had a lawsuit against her thrown out of court.
Tuscaloosa County Circuit Judge James H. Roberts Jr. dismissed the lawsuit, stemming from a fight involving Saban and a sorority sister, Sarah Grimes, back in 2010.
In the lawsuit, Grimes claimed that Saban had injured her during a fight that occurred after a night of drinking. She claimed that Saban had posted something about her on Facebook, and a verbal spat turned into a physical altercation.
“She was justified in using physical force to defend herself,” the judge said in his determination that Grimes had initiated the fight between the two.
Judge Roberts added that in accordance with Alabama’s ‘stand your ground’ law Saban was legally allowed to defend herself in the confrontation.
An attorney for Saban said that the family refused to pay “hush money” in an attempt to try and negate bad publicity.
It seems that having a good defense runs in the Saban family.
