The Elimination Chamber takes place this Sunday where Randy Orton will defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship inside the Elimination Chamber against five other men.
John Cena, Sheamus, Daniel Bryan, Christian and Cesaro will all be gunning for Orton and looking to spoil his potential main event bout against Batista in the main event of WrestleMania XXX. There are some surprise names in the Chamber in the likes of Cesaro and some don’t come as a surprise as John Cena is always lurking in the Championship picture.
So who will win their respective matches come this Sunday? Here are my Elimination Chamber predictions…
Elimination Chamber Kick-off: Cody Rhodes and Goldust vs. Ryback and Curtis Axel
It is nothing to get too excited by right now, The Rhodes Brothers dropped the Tag Team champions to the New Age Outlaws at the Royal Rumble and will probably looking to gain some momentum if they are going to go for the Tag Team Championships once more. However, I don’t think The Rhodes Brothers will remain a team much longer.
A match between the two has been touted for numerous WrestleMania pay-per-views but this could be the year it finally happens; they have shown no signs of splitting but I think this will be one of the surprises and a break-up could soon follow; I expect Ryback and Curtis Axel to pick up the victory.
Prediction: Ryback and Curtis Axel to defeat Cody Rhodes and Goldust
Darren Young vs. Titus O’Neil
The Prime Time Players eventually split up a couple of weeks ago and the split sets up big things for Titus O’Neil and his promo on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw resulted in Triple H and Vince McMahon being very impressed with Titus, especially after he pitched the idea of the heel turn himself.
I think you can expect Titus O’Neil to defeat his former partner as the WWE will try to make him look more formidable, a loss would not help. This match would help Titus’ rise to become the formidable bad guy that the WWE is currently lacking.
Prediction: Titus O’Neil to defeat Darren Young
Tag Team Championships: The New Age Outlaws © vs. The Usos
It is a given that Road Dogg and Billy Gunn will not be holding on to the championships for a while, but only during a transition period as The Usos get themselves ready for the championships they have deserved for quite some time now. The New Age Outlaws dethroned The Rhodes Brothers to become the new champions but they were never going to hold the titles for a long time.
However I don’t think The New Age Outlaws will relinquish the titles at the Elimination Chamber event but drop them to The Usos at WrestleMania; making it a more memorable occasion for the brothers; this Sunday I believe The New Age Outlaws will retain.
Prediction: The New Age Outlaws to defeat The Usos – Retaining the Tag Team Championships
Intercontinental Championship: Big E © vs. Jack Swagger
Big E is a superstar that could receive a big push in 2014; perhaps not as big as Roman Reigns who is touted to challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship soon, but Big E will still make a bigger name for himself and the way to do that would be to defeat Jack Swagger this Sunday.
The Real Americans have really impressed in recent months but I don’t see Swagger defeating Big E to capture the title, I believe Big E will manage to unify the Intercontinental and United States Championships, perhaps as early as WrestleMania, so I think it is safe to say a Big E win is on the cards this weekend.
Prediction: Big E to defeat Jack Swagger – Retaining the Intercontinental Championship
Batista vs. Alberto Del Rio
I really don’t think this match needs any explanation, and is quite underwhelming. The purpose of this match is get Batista a win under his belt in singles competition, a type of warm-up match before he heads to WrestleMania XXX to challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. With Alberto’s future in the WWE in doubt; I see no reason why he should pick up a random win around a month before WrestleMania XXX.
Prediction: Batista to defeat Alberto Del Rio
The SHIELD vs. The Wyatt Family – The Match to watch
For me this will the match to keep your eye on, six of the best new talents on the main roster in the middle of the ring at last; the only down side is that one of these teams has to lose and it looks even more likely that The SHIELD will finally break up.
This could well be the last time The SHIELD wrestle as a trio and I feel that Bray Wyatt will get the all-important pin fall by pinning either Ambrose or Rollins after another argument; resulting in Roman Reigns finally turning face and attacking one of two members of The SHIELD.
Predcition: The Wyatt Family to defeat The SHIELD
WWE World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber: Randy Orton © vs. John Cena vs. Sheamus vs. Christian vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Cesaro
Even though there are five challengers to Orton’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship I think the outcome remains pretty obvious. Orton has not had an easy ride heading into Elimination Chamber which is exactly why he will walk out as champion. Credit to his competitors, they have stepped up to the mark when asked; especially Cesaro who I think will make his mark on the night.
I believe Christian will be the first to be eliminated, followed by Sheamus then Cesaro. This would leave Orton, Cena and Bryan as the final three and John Cena would then get eliminated as Orton will then go on to pin Daniel Bryan to retain his championship; against all odds.
Randy Orton will head into WrestleMania XXX as WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Prediction: Randy Orton survives the Elimination Chamber – Retains the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
