Manchester United have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon youngster William Carvalho, reports The Mirror.
Reports have suggested that the Portuguese outfit have identified a replacement for their prize asset as their lining up a move for Estoril’s Goncalo.
With Goncalo potentially arriving at Lisbon, Manchester United boss David Moyes will now believe he can bring Carvalho to Old Trafford this summer.
However, if the Manchester United manager is going to bring the star to the Theatre of Dreams, he may have to compete with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid for the player's signature.
It appears that the Portuguese side are ready to part ways with the star, but are hoping to hold out for his £37.5 million buyout clause.
Manchester United will be hoping to sign the 21-year-old for a lower fee, however the battle to sign him looks set to heat up. Carvalho could be one of a number of signings Manchester United bring to the club in the summer, with a major overhaul expected.
