Mesut Ozil hasn't settled into life in England claims former German midfielder Michael Ballack.

Ozil has been inconsistent since his £42.4 million move from Real Madrid. Despite an assured start, his form has tailed off as the season has gone on. Last night's penalty miss has led to fans calling for the star to be dropped.

The Arsenal playmaker later took to his official Facebook page to apologise to Arsenal fans for his performance but Ballack believes the problems run deeper.

German legend Ballack, speaking to Sky Sports, reckons the expectation that the transfer put on him is starting to show.

"With his quality he should be untouchable and bring out so much in the team," he said. "But it looks like he does not have the acceptance of the team.

"When he came to Arsenal there was so much expectation with the quality he has. The first games he looked good, played well and was comfortable.

"But now he looks a bit lost in this team."

Ballack knows how difficult the Premier League can be after spending four years at Chelsea between 2006 and 2010.

The then German captain moved from Bayern Munich on a free transfer before winning one Premier League title under Jose Mourinho.
