The race for the NBA MVP title is sure to take another twist tonight as the two prime contenders come face to face at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.

LeBron James and his Miami Heat teammates will take on Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder who will be buoyed by the return of Russell Westbrook from injury.

In Westbrook's absence, the Thunder have gone on a tremendous winning run and now find themselves atop of the Western Conference by a margin of three games.

During this time, Kevin Durant has become most analysts clear favorite for the MVP title which James has won the previous two seasons.

King James however, hit back earlier this week with a 42 point display against the Dallas Mavericks.

However, Durant is cool on the importance of the game:

"It's not a championship game," he said. "It's not a deciding game in the playoffs. This game is not going to get us into the playoffs or knock us out. This doesn't really decide anything. It's a regular-season game."

Meanwhile Dwyane Wade talked about the size of the challenge facing the Heat after they had already dropped one game to the Thunder this season:

"It'll be one of our biggest challenges of the regular season,"  Wade said. "Anytime we play them (is a challenge), especially now, after losing to them at home. And bringing in Westbrook, you're bringing in a dynamic player at home, where they play very well
