Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez is being lined up by David Beckham as the first marquee signing for his Major League Soccer franchise in Miami, reports the Daily Mail.
The Spain international is under contract at Camp Nou until 2016, but will be targeted for a switch across the Atlantic when Beckham's team is formed in 2017.
Xavi has made clear his intention to see out his current deal with Barcelona, after recently being linked with a move to the MLS to New York Red Bulls.
Miami is heavily populated by Spanish-speaking residents, and Xavi would be a huge commercial draw as Beckham looks to get the city behind his new club with the addition of the Barcelona star.
It's not yet clear whether the 34-year-old would consider prolonging his career beyond his 36th birthday, but that won't stop Beckham from making an offer for Tata Martino's midfield maestro in a couple of years time.
