With the draw for the European Championship 2016 being made on Sunday, what would be the dream draw for England and who would we want to avoid?
England have been assigned to Pot one, avoiding all the big names who are certain to be rivals at the tournament in France in 2016.
Pot two has some large teams that England will be desperate to avoid. Belgium and the Czech Republic would be the nightmare ties, especially the Belgians, who have the potential to turn into a European powerhouses. In their qualifying group for the World Cup, they blitzed the group winning 8 out of 10 without losing a game.
Pot 2: Ukraine, Croatia, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary, Republic of Ireland
Ties against Ukraine, Croatia and Sweden would all prove tricky but would be more than winnable. The dream group would involve either Hungary or Republic of Ireland. Hungary are surprise entrants in Pot 2, with a World ranking of 44, lower than Scotland, they would be the ideal selection. Hungary narrowly missed out on a World Cup play off places, edged out by Romania.
Pot 3: Serbia, Turkey, Slovenia, Israel, Norway, Slovakia, Romania, Austria, Poland
Pot three could also throw up some potential banana skins. All nine teams just missed out on qualification for Brazil, and will be looking to make amends, especially with more teams reaching the finals in France. Israel would probably provide the easier ties, with Poland, Slovenia or Romania the most dangerous. Romania surprise many by reaching the playoffs to the World Cup before being beaten by Greece.
Pot 4: Montenegro, Armenia, Scotland, Finland, Latvia, Wales, Bulgaria, Estonia, Belarus
Pot four includes bitter enemies Scotland and Wales, and whilst it would cut down on travelling, the occasion made cause the opponents to play above themselves. An example would be England's friendly victory over Scotland at Wembley in August, where the Scots were dangerous and even managed to take the lead. Armenia or Estonia would almost be a certain 6 points.
Pot 5: Iceland, Northern Ireland, Albania, Lithuania, Moldova, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Cyprus
Pot 5's toughest opponents would be Iceland who, surprisingly, reached the playoffs for Brazil before losing out to Croatia. Like the Romania's they will be hoping to build on the last qualification outing, aiming to make the finals for the first time in their history. Northern Ireland could also challenge England, looking to put one over on their foes. Cyprus or Albania look the most favourable teams.
Pot 6: Luxembourg, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein, Faroe Islands, Malta, Andorra, San Marino, Gibraltar
Pot 6 sees the inclusion of Gibraltar for the first time, along with the minnows of European football. Due to travelling involved Kazakhstan would be less than ideal, with the continent's whipping boys, San Marino would give a perfect opportunity to try out new options for the national team.
England's Dream group: Hungary, Israel, Armenia, Cyprus and San Marino
England's Nightmare group: Croatia, Poland, Scotland, Iceland, Kazakhstan.
Whilst this has been described as England's nightmare group, it is still more than manageable for Roy Hodgson's boys. Progression to France 2016 should be a relatively easy process with few upsets expected.
