Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos claims it is his intention to renew his contract at the Allianz Arena but has yet to reach an ‘understanding’ with the Bundesliga champions. Manchester United have been linked with a move for the German, who is out of contract in 2015.
Pep Guardiola has reiterated his desire to keep the player in Munich and, although Kroos admits there has been little progress in negotiations, he appears optimistic an agreement will be reached at some point
“We have sorted out one or two things,” Kroos told reporters. “Like I have said many times, I am happy at Bayern. But as matters stand today, we have yet to come to an understanding. But that can change.”
Kroos, though, reinforced his importance to Bayern with an pivotal role in the defeat of Arsenal on Wednesday, with the Germany international scoring the opening goal and controlling the play.
A performance of such quality may seen Bayern stump up the payrise he is reported to be requesting.
