Golden Oldies: Over-35 XI (1)

Published 3 Comments

Foootball stars these days seem to be getting younger and younger; the likes of Adnan Januzaj at Manchester United, Barcelona's Neymar and Serge Gnabry of Arsenal are showing that the best players around these days rarely develop late.

Making your senior debut in your 20s is almost unheard of now, so we at GMS thought the elder statesmen of the sport we enjoy so much deserved a bit of attention.

With the pace of matches increasing almost every year and the players getting fitter, faster and stronger, staying relevant and keeping your performances at the required level when heading into your late 30s takes an incredible amount of dedication.

Over-35 players will always feel that little bit more stiff, injuries will take a little bit longer to heal and the few yards lost in pace make everything that little bit more difficult.

There are still a few Golden Oldies plying their trade around world football and we have put together a starting XI of the best of them.
