Manchester United boss David Moyes has retained an interest in bringing long-term target Ezequiel Garay to Old Trafford, as he seeks to find a replacement for the departing Nemanja Vidic, according to reports in Italy.
TuttoMercato claims that the Argentinian centre-back, who has been linked with United since Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge, remains on a list of potential targets for Moyes, who will look to strengthen his failing squad this summer.
The former Real Madrid man has impressed at Benfica, and it’s reported that United sent scouts to watch him play during his side’s Europa League fixture away at PAOK.
Though it would seem that the trail had gone cold concerning United’s interest in Garay during recent weeks, the evidence would suggest that he still remains on their radar.
This notion is reinforced by the fact that club captain Vidic is set for a departure from the Premier League this summer, with Inter Milan virtually having secured his signature.
There have been other centre-backs mentioned in connection with the reigning Premier League giants, but Garay, rated at a cool £25million by his club, could well be the man Moyes opts to pursue primarily.
