Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Barcelona's Alex Song by making an approach for the former Arsenal midfielder.
Reports in Spain suggest Manchester United boss David Moyes has told La Liga giants Barcelona that they are keen on bringing the Cameroon international to Old Trafford.
Premier League trio Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal are all keen on signing the deep-lying midfielder at the end of the season.
Song is said to be open to a move back to England because he has found games hard to come by at Barcelona under Tata Martino.
The 26-year-old, who moved to Barcelona for £15million in 2012, has started just nine La Liga games this season.
Song is said to be happy at Barcelona but is becoming slightly disillusioned with life in Spain due to the fact that he is not a first-team regular.
Moyes has also been linked with making a move for Bayern Munich's Toni Kroos and Ilkay Gundogan of Borussia Dortmund as he wants to bolster his midfield options before the start of next season.
