Damian Lillard is a rising star in the world of professional basketball, and boy does he know it.
According to CSNNW, the Portland Trail Blazers point guard is set to follow up the moves he's been displaying on the court, with major moves off it as well.
"Being that he took home the 2012-13 NBA Rookie of the Year award, became an NBA All-Star and reached other unique incentive clauses in his first two seasons, Lillard will be able to opt out of his shoe contract at the end of the basketball season and either renegotiate a more lucrative deal with adidas, or open negotiations with Nike, Brand Jordan, Reebok or Under Armor, league sources informed CSNNW.com."
Lillard has potential to be a new global face of the sport, a fact the NBA pounced on by asking him to star in every event over the course of all-star weekend. Such exposure would only help to increase his appeal and marketability as an individual.
Adidas won't want to lose the youngster as they are currently lacking a real face for their basketball side of business, with Derrick Rose being out for the rest of the season with another knee injury.
So you can expect to hear a lot more about Lillard in the coming months, and expect him to have a new signature shoe and billboard campaign out as soon as he pens that new deal.
