Chelsea transfer target Javier Zanetti will hold talks with Inter Milan president Erick Thohir to discuss his future at the club.

According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport the Argentinian international is desperate to stay at the San Siro.

And, despite reported interest from Chelsea, Zanetti plans to hold talks with Thohir on Wednesday to see where he fits into his plans at the club.

The 40-year-old defender was linked with a player/coach role at Stamford Bridge, with Blues boss Jose Mourinho believed to be a big fan of Zanetti from his time as Inter Milan manager.

Mourinho reportedly wanted Zanetti as part of his back room staff, with the option to call upon his experience off the bench.

Zanetti admitted he remains on good terms with Mourinho from his time at the San Siro, but he insisted that the remains completely committed to Inter.

He has spent his last 19 years as a professional at Inter Milan after joining the club in 1995 from Banfield.

And he has made more than 600 Serie A appearances for the Italian giants in that time.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho spent two years at Inter Milan, winning two league titles and a Champions League trophy during his spell at the club.
